Campaigns & Projects Blog - September 2007

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah
I pray you are all well and reaping the benefits of this blessed month

This is my first blog for the new academic year so I will take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you all about the work that I will be undertaking in the upcoming year insha'Allah.
As you may have gathered, the structure of FOSIS is changing (details of which will be coming soon), and in my new role as the campaigns and projects head, or cap head if you prefer, I will be overlooking several areas of FOSIS work.

Primarily I will be supervising the welfare, Islam awareness, and justice campaigns committees. Given the work that has already been established under Islamic awareness and justice campaigns, I hope to see the committees build on their foundations and go from strength to strength. I anticipate that the establishment of the welfare committee will be more challenging however, given the lack of time and effort invested into it in the past. I am personally keen to see the development of sports under the welfare committee, especially sister’s sports. This is an area which I think has been traditionally neglected, but after FOSIS annual conference welcomed a come-back to sisters sports tournaments, I will be looking for people to take that further in this upcoming year. I know that many of you will have already taken on the Snowdon challenge after the presentations delivered by Islamic relief at this year's annual conference.

There are other projects in the pipelines that I will insha'Allah be working on this year, including the alumni project and the changes that will concern the federation’s constitution . . . more about that to come!

If you are interested in any of the areas above, please do not hesitate to drop me an email.

jazakum Allahu khairan and ramadan karim to you all
