Head of Campaigns- October 2009

Assalamu Alaikum

Praise be to Allah, the lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon his Messenger Muhammad (saw).

I would like to start by praying that Allah, Almighty, blesses brother Oussama Mezoui and makes his studies and his business easy for him. May He grant Oussama all the success which he deserves in this dunya as well as in the hereafter. Ameen

I've been co-opted onto the committee three weeks ago, following the unfortunate resignation of brother Oussama.

The Team FOSIS Away Camp took place on the weekend after my co-option onto the NEC. Alhamdulillah the camp went very well, it was great to meet all the people I met there and to spend a whole weekend with them, all I can say is that one weekend with them is simply not enough. I will insha'Allah put together a document on how to organise the camp in the future and how to learn from previous mistakes. Having a team FOSIS away weekend is a great idea and I sincerely believe that this camp should take place every year and should get bigger insha'Allah. The long awaited SAC v. ISCC football match took place and ended with an ISCC victory. Brother Nabil, being the fighter he is, gave ISCC a tough match and pushed Rashid to his limits, may Allah bless both of them. Man of the match was, of course, Abdulrahman Alhadithi.

As for the campaigns committee - There are so many ideas on the table and there is a great team of people who do not lack any determination to getting the work done, may Allah grant them success. Palestine Week 2010 is currently in the planning stages, so much work has been put into it and I really look forward to it as it is going to be amazing. The way it currently stands, the week will truly educate people, and change their perceptions, about the Occupation in Palestine and the attacks on Gaza early 2009.
We are also working with MADE on a huge campus tour with Mekka 2 Madina, through which future leaders will be recruited and given the opportunity to lead and train others around them. We will also be (potentially) recruiting volunteers to go with charities to third world countries for up to ten weeks.

Charity Week has gone very well this year, Alhamdulillah, with very few problems as far as timing is concerned. Competition has been very healthy and ISocs were setting great environments on campus. Several ISocs even had their activities posted on the news. ULU ISoc, Islamic Relief and I will be working, over the next year, on making Charity Week much bigger and better than it already is.

The Prophet PBUH was reported to have said: If one of you was to see evil taking place, then let him change it with his hands. If he wasn't able to do so, then let him change it with his tongue. If, however, he was unable to do so, then let him change it in his heart, and that is the weakest of faith.
There is (evidently) lots of evil taking place in the world around us in many forms. Be the change you want to see in the world, follow the Hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) and change this evil with your hands. Join the Campaigns committee by emailing myself at head.campaigns@fosis.org.uk, we are always recruiting people to lead the many projects we do, including Islamophobia, improving Education in the third World and many more.

Your brother,

Abdulrahman Alhadithi
