London Blog - December 2008/January 2009

Assalam Alaikum Warahmatuallahi Wabarakatuhu

First and foremost I start by praising Allah (SWT) and then sending peace and blessings upon His messenger Muhammad (SAW), the Companions and all the righteous believers until the Day of Judgement.

May this blog entry find you all in the best of Health and Imaan, Aameen.

Since the last blog the London committee has been busy working diligently behind the scenes, from acquiring affiliation forms to helping Isoc's with prayer room issues and chaplaincy problems. We just had an amazing Islamic Awareness Week Training Seminar delivered in which Isocs from different universities across London were given an in depth insight into the ways in which they could execute an effective Islam awareness week, and mashallah it also received great feedback from the participants. There was a great deal of work put into it by Sr Amal & Br Ajmal, also Sr Fatma designed the packs, the trainers that delivered the seminars Br's Mamoon & Mohammed did a fantastic job, May Allah reward them all Aameen. There also has been a lot of representational work being done which hasn't been mentioned at all with various organisations and institutions.

During this time period we saw the Isareli aggression against the Palestinians taking place and Br's & Sr's from the London Committee have attended many demonstrations, rallies, advised Isoc's on what speakers to contact. We are also on the verge of organising a conference on Palestine on Saturday 21st February, with notable academics, speakers & academics delivering talks and workshops.

In terms of services, there will be speakers tours with Shaykh Farraz Rabbani, Shaykh Navaid from AlKauthar Institute and Shaykh Riad from Al Maghrib Institute in February & March. The committee is also working on a London Graduation event as an alternative to those where halal entertainment isn't available. As well as our AGM which will be occuring in late March.

Jazakallah Khair

Walaikum Assalam
