Asalaamu alaykum.

The end of a term - nearly. FOSIS Wales has been growing masha'Allah, and plans for the Freshers Packs and conference are starting to take shape.

The conference is usually a heavy burden on FOSIS, but one that is so entrenched in our year plans to remove it would feel wrong. The biggest problem we've been trying to deal with is accomodation - how do you provide cheap and easy accomodation? The solution we've been working with is to use houses instead of student accomodation - Cardiff having a spread out campus has nearly as many students homes as official student accomodation - so we're hoping that a house can provide cheaper and easier accomodation for the conference attendees. We're talking to various letting agents to get an initial plan together.

The holidays are usually a chance to take a breath of air, and catch up on workloads (both academic, FOSIS, and otherwise). While looking forward to 6 weeks off - its also important to remember that free time can often be misabused. The devil makes work for idle hands. Often, during our busiest times we are the most aware of Allah and most effective with our time. May Allah help us use every moment of our life well.

I pray we also all benefited from the 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah, and were among the forgiven on Yawm al-Arafah.

Jazakallahu khair.

Salaam,

Abdul Azim
