Midlands Blog - December 2008/January 2009

Assalamu alaikum

wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu,

December was a fairly quiet month for FOSIS Midlands. We used the Christmas holidays as an opportunity to sit back, relax and re-energise our efforts for the activities of the second semester. The first semester was packed with events for the FOSIS Midlands committee and we wanted to hit the ground running in the second semester.

January started off with a 'Let the Isocs Speak' session. This was an opportunity given by the FOSIS Midlands committee to the universities within the regions to understand what FOSIS was, what we did, how they can benefit from us and how we can benefit from them. Alhumdulillah, a fruitful discussion was taken by the universities that were present and everyone took things from the meetings back to their own ISOCs. And this was followed by a food session!

Looking forward, the second semester is normally associated with Islam Awareness Week and FOSIS Midlands have been busy helping universities with their preparations. As part of our aim to help out, we are bringing and heping co-ordinate international speakers such as Shaykh Shabbir Ally and Yahya Ibrahim who will be visiting Cambridge University, Birmingham University, Warwick University and Oxford University insha-Allah. If that is not enough, there are other things that are planned for the semester - so keep checking back to see what is going on.

WasSalam
