North Blog - November 2008

Salaams

Hope you are all well, Inshallah

Just a brief and quick update from FOSIS North; over the past month or so the North has been quiet, when everything is coming to a steady slow down, however the North region have concentrated on affiliation forms, speakers tours and also ISOC visits. Up to date I have affiliations forms from Bradford, Sheffield (Both), York, Hull, & Sunderland. The rest are most likely struggling in the Christmas post, but insha’Allah I will try to get as many as I possibly can before the Exec meeting in Cardiff.

Plans for charity week went ahead and many of the Isocs in the North confirmed their position to take part between the 20th - 26th October 2008, Masha’Allah in the North, Charity week was a success the total amount raised was £50 000 Jazakallah khair to everyone who attended and participated in this year's Charity week and making it a huge success. May Allah (swt) accept all of our efforts and reward us in abundance Insha-Allah.

Tours that have taken place in the region include:
- James Yusuf Yee (Ex US Army Muslim chaplain) For Leeds University
- With Mufti Ismail Menk (Zimbabwe) For Leeds University and also toured the Midlands (Birmingham)

The upcoming tours we are currently working on are a national speakers tour: working with speakers from UK Islamic Mission (UKIM), Hassan Mahmood and Dr. Hanni El-Banna.
The international speakers that we are aiming to bring to the region include:
Imaam Suhaib Webb and Harun Yahya

We have plans to visit Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds & Bradford in the new year, Insha’Allah. More specifically we have been slowly beginning to flood with emails regarding speakers tours for Islam Awareness Week, I have been contacted and we are trying to process the requests put through by the individual ISOCS by working in coordination with the speakers tour committee.

Looking on the bright side, I was at a nasheed event yesterday in Rochdale, alhamdulillah it was very good, We managed to get back stage and talk to Ashiq-E-Rasool and get some contact details also getting a mention on stage just before their perfomance. The reason of mentioning this was because we introduceed ourselves as FOSIS, and they had heard of FOSIS and are being contacted by various universities to do events, Thus creating links and a good relationship with FOSIS.

We in the near future are planning to work on the regions football tournament, and are also planning to help ISOCS during their IAW by providing them with information, advice or anything else that we can.

Jazakallah Khair, may Allah accept all your hard work and efforts.

W'salaams
