North Chair- September 2009

One of the biggest tasks of semester one for any regional chair is trying to ensure that each Isoc gets their freshers packs. This year it was even more hectic due to Ramadan and Eid falling so close to term time. Alhamdullillah all the isocs that ordered within the deadline were able to receive the packs. There was a lot of positive feedback about the content of the packs and we were able to increase the number of orders for the region.

We have been trying to focus on members from the committee visiting Isoc fresher's dinners and making short presentations about the work that FOSIS does and what we have planned for the upcoming year. So far we have been able to visit Manchester Met, Huddersfield and Bradford, with visits planned at dinners in the University of Liverpool and University of Leeds. This is so that we can help to build long-lasting relationships with the Isocs, which is an essential part of the work that we do.

Alhamdulillah Isocs across the north have now set their sights on Charity Week and winning seems to be on everyones minds. This year we will be having more universities taking part including more from the North East. There is a real buzz and excitement amongst the Charity Week reps that I have spoken to and hopefully this will mean that we can exceed last years total. Plans are being made for the Charity Week dinner and hopefully promotional material will be available to Isocs shortly. The dinner will be held in Manchester and we will have at least two guest speakers. If you have any comments, queries or suggestions please email me at north.chair@fosis.org.uk

Wasalam
