Head of Members Relations Blog - July 2009

I pray all is well

Alhumdolillah we've had a steady start to the Members Relations team within FOSIS. The primary remit for Members Relations is two fold; Freshers Packs and the FOSIS Annual Conference.

Prior coming into my post Brothers Rahid, Obada and our office manager Br Adel had already made a lot of headway with respect to the Freshers Packs. We are currently in the process of finding sponsors for all the items and this year we are  attempting to produce 50% more packs than last year. Unfortunately I will be out of the country for most of August and September and at the first National Executive Meeting we decided to let Obada and Rashid continue heading the project with myself having a consultative role. We are also in the final stages of securing a new and very useful item into the Fresher Packs so look out for that! But for now if you know of any potential sponsors for the packs then please do get in touch with me or brother Obada!

With respect to  the FOSIS Annual Conference we have begun some preliminary discussions within the executive. We are hoping to build on the successes of our last conference in Birmingham. The FOSIS Annual Conference is a really unique project within FOSIS and I am starting to put a team together, so if you are interested or if you know anyone who would like to be part of next years conference team then please do get in touch! So far we have conducted a feedback survey from last years attendees, which has yielded some interesting results, and we will soon be asking Islamic Societies around the country if they are interested in hosting next years conference.

Finally we have had some discussion about formalising and structuring the FOSIS Alumni. There are a lot of potential benefits we can get from utilising the Alumni which stretches back as far as the 1960's! Insha Allah I will be heading this long term project with a team of current and ex-FOSIS members. We are still very early on in the project and are welcome to ideas and suggestions!
