Scotland Blog - July 2009

AsalamuAlaikum

My name is Ammad, I am continuing as chair of FOSIS Scotland for the next academic year inshAllah.

After really establishing FOSIS within Scotland last year and getting almost all the ISocs onboard we are hopeful the coming year brings a lot of progression. The FOSIS Scotland committee was elected last term and finalised in  June. Unfortunately we haven’t had a chance to meet yet due to a lot of people being abroad (4 weeks in Malaysia or sitting at home in Glasgow – guess what I chose!) but inshAllah the first meeting will be within the next week or so and we can get the planning and action underway. The priority at the moment is to get the committee trained and identify our aims and objectives for the year. May Allah help us to achieve our goals.

Isoc work within Scotland has real potential to really kick ahead in the coming year. Though we aren’t blessed with the sheer numbers of Muslim students in say Midlands or London, the unity and togetherness, as well as enthusiasm, of the brothers and sisters within the FOSIS committee and more widely within our Isocs will inshAllah lead them to great success in the coming year.
