All Praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. The final victory is for the God-conscious. There is no enmity, except against the unjust oppressors. Blessings and Peace be upon the most excellent of the messengers, and upon all his family and companions.

Assalaam 'alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu.

We often do not realise what we have or what we are part of until we have lost sight of its glory or we have been reminded by others. I was recently in Malaysia, where many of the founders of FOSIS come from. In the 1960's when there was a surge of Malaysian students in the UK they went out about a establishing a pioneering project: FOSIS. Today I am and many others are a part of this proud establishment that enables tens of thousands of Muslims students to be catered for – Alhamdulilah. During my visit in Malaysia I had come across activists who in the 1970's were part of FOSIS. They told me how the very nurturing FOSIS provided them had trained them up to be the very individuals they are today. I felt very proud of what and who I stand for when I mention that I am a member of FOSIS.

Once the new committee was established, the year started of gathering the names and contact details of the committee members of the Isocs in the South. A task that may seem very easy, even with a few years of experience in this position under my belt it is always a challenging mission. Alhamdulilah the South Committee was able to collate a new database for the South and started establishing a personal relationship with the Isocs. Soon after many Isocs were delivered Freshers Packs.

Br Shuaib took the opportunity to train and talk to us from his great experience of working with FOSIS to the new South Committee. With his help we set an agenda, a plan and an action plan for the South. Part of the plan was to try and make personal visit to each Isoc in the South. We were able to meet a few Isocs and notably gather Bath, Bristol, Kent and Portsmouth in one meeting, a relatively hard task when considering the size of the South region.

Also part of our plan is to provide Isocs with speakers. Our first speaker's tour was with Dr. Salah E Al-Djazairi, a leading expert in the field of Islamic History and Civilization. He was able to speak at Reading and Surrey, 19th and 20th November respectively. We have already started planning for Islam Awareness Week for Isocs and we have managed to offer Shaykh Murtaza Khan. Br Usman has taken on this task of delivering the speaker and handling the logistics of this tour. So far four Isocs have shown been confirmed and possibly another three/four Isocs. It is still in the planning stages, further information will be available soon. Also Br Usman has taken the task of organising a weekend course with Shaykh Haitham Al Haddad, but this is very early on and inshallah date and venue will be confirmed soon. Br Rashid our FOSIS London Chair has been able to bag in the Harun Yahya Team and a speaker from Al Magrib Institute, if all goes to plan there is a strong possibility Isocs in the South will be offered these speakers. I have also spoken to ex Guantanamo Bay detainee who has agreed to do a tour in the South, inshallah this should be happening soon.

We have few other plans in the pipeline such as carrying out a camping trip, inshallah having two separate camping trips South East and South West. Inshallah Allah guides us and gives us the strength to work as a team to deliver to the Isocs in the South. Please forgive me and the South Committee team if it has not yet delivered to your Isoc, please do correct us as we are in no better position than any Isoc. Isocs are our strength and collectively we can produce fruitful results. Please make dua that what we do is done with the right intention and Allah accepts our deeds, also that what we plan to do for the remaining academic year we are able to deliver to every single Isoc in the region. All the above and more would not have been possible without the help with the brothers and sisters involved in the South Committee, the Exec that guides us and most importantly Allah's guidance.

Jazakallah Khair
