Vice President Blog - Speptember 2007

Salaams and my best wishes to everyone
My name is Zahid Bhatti as I am attempting to fulfil the role of vice-president. My aims for this year are to develop the systems and structures of FOSIS so that they can support and facilitate effective practise for years to come, inshAllah. As well as to oversee and develop a number of projects which include the National Annual Conference and the Muslim Graduation Celebration.

Since the elections in July I have proposed some ideas regarding the organisational structure and meetings, some of which have been implemented which included the team FOSIS induction that took place in Nottingham in August. I have created a system of planning and monitoring for all the committees; looking back I think developing an annual plan is vital for us to be effective although the monitoring systems needs to be re-looked at to make it more simpler.

Regarding the Annual Conference we have already set the date and confirmed the venue; we are thankful and pleased that brother Usman and his team which include FOSIS North and CCIS and championing the project which will take place from 25 June to 29 June at Salford University; dates for your diary!

I am currently developing the human resource division which includes a recruitment strategy as well as a procedure for complaints and appeals. All of which will be made available soon.

I have been asked to share a quote with you, mine is from Arthur Koestler (1905 - 1983) who said: "The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge"
I chose this quote as often we don’t recognise our own ignorant which can hinder us from seeking knowledge.

I ask you to pray for me and the federation; that Allah gives us tawfiq and accepts the little we do.
