VP Training and HR- September 2009

Assalamulaikum my dear brothers and sisters in Islam

I begin in the name of Allah (swt) the most merciful the beneficent.

Firstly I would like to begin by saying a belated Eid Mubarak to you and your families I pray you had a joyous day filled with lots of happiness ameen. The last 10 days of Ramadan we were all given a break by our Amir br Faisal in order to make the most of these blessed days. In this month the THR have been busy in numerous projects, these range from recruitment to governance. In relation to Governance I have been on a training course to give me a more detailed and specific insight into governance and how to implement certain structures and procedures into our own organisation. Over the next couple of months some of us will be partaking in ISOC 101 Training across the UK. InshAllah we pray we can make the course of use to ISOC members and regional committees. The team is also preparing for two major events in the THR calendar, the Team FOSIS away weekend (Camp in Leicestershire) and the Leadership course intending to take place in December. The latter will be an intensive residential course and initially we have booked tickets for the main speaker.

The THR team have been working consistently hard on various projects and sections in the committee. We have established an identity to the committee which mashAllah sr Sabeen put forward a logo and banner for the recruitment drive which we all approved, and the new launch of the Mualim project which is on track with excellent marketing employed by Br Ajmal to create a lot of excitement around the project. Br Adham has been working on establishing a governance review team and br Abdul Rahman has been working very hard on organising the Camp which has begun to gain many bookings alhumdulillah. Presently im working on devising a complaint procedure for FOSIS personnel so the methods we adopt in FOSIS are objective and impartial inshAllah. In addition to all of this I have been invited to several national events in London which myself and/or the THR committee will attend. This month we are also intending to have our monthly meeting to catch up on all the relevant projects and oversee how things are going holistically.

With Ramadan in this month, September has been filled with lots to do but I pray we can retain some of the lessons we have learned during Ramadan and continue to reflect and critique our own characters and through this grow closer to Allah (swt) and His beloved messenger (saw). With October drawing in I can predict that the start of a new semester things will get more intensive Alhumdulillah so let get working!!!!
Your duas as ever please,

Abida Malik

Reminder to myself first and foremost:
"Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds: No partner hath He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who bow to His Will." (Surat Alan'aam: 162/3)
