Vice President Blog - January 2008

Assalmu alikum wa Rahmatullah,

I pray that everybody is well and that we are from those that seek out and take advantage of the many opportunities Allah provides us and that we are from those that show gratitude.

Recently my focus has been to coordinate and oversee the constitutional review; which is one of the key objectives for FOSIS the year and provides us with an excellent opportunity to review the central purpose of FOSIS, its objectives, structure and procedures.

This process started by members of the executive providing some initial feedback and rewriting certain sections of the constitution. After this a meeting was sent up with members of the national management committee with an external trainer and other members of the executive contributed to the meeting by email. With the external trainer the vision of FOSIS was explored as well as reasons why the constitution needs changing and key issues and problems in FOSIS along with possible solutions was discussed.

I am currently in the process of rewriting the constitution with other members of the executive. This will be followed by two meeting the first for FOSIS workers and then second by an open meeting which ISocs and advisors will attend (for those who cannot attend the meeting the constitution will be emailed to them and they can email comments). The open meeting will take place 19 April so I hope all of you can come to the meeting.

My other key priorities have been to work on the Muslim Graduate Event; this will inshallah take place at Islam Expo on Monday 14th July. Separate tickets will be sold for the event and the event will include special awards as well as guest speakers and entertainment.

Best regards
Zahid Bhatti
