Wales Blog - September 2008

Assalamu Alaikum wr wb,

RAMADHAN MUBARAK :D

We’re just reaching the beginning of the new academic year, with just under 2 weeks for fresher’s week; ISocs are working hard in preparation. It’s beautiful to realise that the new year is to start in the blessed month of Ramadhan! May this be a sign that the whole year insha’Allah will be a blessed and successful one.

Perhaps I should introduce myself; my name is Alaa Khundakji, a current final year student studying Biomedical Science in UWIC, I was justice campaigns officer in Wales last year, and helped with the formation of UWIC ISoc. I’m going to be honest and say what has the world come to when they’ve put me as Wales Chair! I feel for you all! But insha’Allah I will do my best, and pray that Allah guides us all in making this year a beneficial one.

I actually had no plan to come into FOSIS this year, and wanted a ‘break’ for my final year; but subhana’Allah a sign to show that whatever Allah wants and allows is what happens, a reminder for all of us that whatever happens in this coming year is under Allah’s will, and all successes is through him. At first, I was really intimidated and scared of taking on the position, but masha’Allah the committee this year is fantastic; and

Alhamdulillah we’re starting to feel the FOSIS family aspect of things, with excellent support for each other 
We’ve had our first meeting, and formulated a year plan; So far the main focus is fresher’s, Ramadhan, Eid and Charity week; there seems to be soo much happening Alhamdulillah, all I can say is ‘WARNING’ there are some busy months coming up insha’Allah!

Fresher pack should be with you very soon iA (yes before freshers week), we’re also planning to come and visit all the ISocs and say our Salaams insha’Allah :D

I hope to see you all very soon insha’Allah.

May you have a blessed Ramadhan, and your acts of worship are accepted. Ameen

Wa Alaikum al salaam
