Bismillahir Rahman Al Raheem

Assalamu Alaikum wr wb,

There are two words for October, Charity Week!

Alhamdullillah, and Masha’Allah thanks to the dedication of our great Charity Week rep, Sr. Saira Chaudhry, Charity week Wales has grown from one ISoc to all the ISocs taking part; wait it didn’t just stop at Universities, It was also taken to Highschools and Collages; Youth groups and Primary schools. It gave an opportunity for university students to engage and make links with the younger generation, the next generation of ISoc members (insha’Allah); thus immediately making CW a much larger project. This whole month went to one of the greatest campaign/project of the year, Strengthening the bonds of brotherhood/sisterhood, unity, respect and awareness; as well as raising money for the orphans. It is narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said

"Whoever supports an orphan from among his own or any other family, he will be as close to me in Heaven as these fingers are close to each other." While holding up his middle and index fingers up together..... Alhamdulillah

It was beautiful to see such unity within the ISocs; and feedback that CW “Has brought the committee together and closer” it has been truly remarkable! The grand total still unknown, to be revealed in our upcoming event; the FOSIS Wales ‘ISoc Awards’ and Charity Week Finale. An annual event to recognise ISoc’s work and achievements; this year it’s to be hosted by UWIC (Colchester Ave.) on 15th November. An evening to bring all the different ISocs together, making one last stance of raising money for Orphans, as well as recognising the achievements of the ISocs for the past year. Nominations are now open for ISocs to show their achievements; or for outstanding individual contribution. Make sure Your ISoc is there to collect their awards (if they get any that is ;). Please contact your ISoc FOSIS Rep for more information.

We’ve also managed to have our first Regional meeting of the year (with a fantastic turn out... *Rolls eyes*) we were able to distribute Resource CD’s for Treasurers and Gen Secs, which proved popular and insha’Allah useful.

We’ve had our first Inter-ISoc Social of the year, it’s the first time FOSIS Wales has tried to build up a series of Inter-ISoc Socials – aimed at bringing members of different ISocs together; quite a few Universities overlap each other, in the sense that you would find students living close to one uni, but attends a different one. It would be nice for students to feel comfortable that they are able to attend an event in their local ISoc, and more comforting when they know students there as well.

Well, that’s it from me for now- Please Remember us in your Dua’s and forgive our shortcomings.

JazakAllah Khair
