Two Full Time Job Opportunities (12 month fixed term)

 

Are you a dynamic, creative, hard-working individual with a passion for Muslim students? Then working for the award-winning Federation of Student Islamic Societies could be for you.


Two full-time Job opportunities, 12 month fixed-term

Salary: £15,000

Location: London or Bolton based

Closing date: 13th August 2010. Available to start early September.

Suitable for recently qualified graduates wanting to develop key life skills and lead in two crucial roles, focally based around

- Marketing - to lead on developing the FOSIS brand.

- Fundraising - to increase the financial capacity of FOSIS.

The candidates would also provide support for other key projects aimed at enhancing the outreach of FOSIS.

 

Established in 1963, the Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) is an organisation devoted to the service of Muslim students. As one of the oldest Muslim organisations in the Western world, we have continuously produced high calibre alumni and enriched the minds of our peers in Higher Education with our Islamic ethos. Our aims have revolved around uniting, serving and representing the interests of Islamic Societies and over 100,000 Musli m students in the UK and Ireland. From core da'wah support to popular conferences, workshop events and charitable campaigns, our work takes place visibly on campuses; and recently our unique national presence has also grown as a powerful voice for Muslim students. We work closely with many of the UK and Ireland’s leading Islamic Societies and alongside professional organisations, Muslim groups, public bodies and the voluntary sector.

As we approach our 50th anniversary we now seek to expand our capacity and rejuvenate our energies towards establishing a solid foundation for the next 50 years of Muslim youth activism.

The successful candidate will need to not only share our vision, but view it as key to their own life goals. The candidate should be a team player that is willing to learn, flexible, have good attention to detail and be passionate about working for Muslim students through the Islamic Societies framework.

 

The candidate must also possess:

· 2:1 (or higher) degree, and 240 (or higher) UCAS points at A level

· Project Management Skills

· Excellent oral, presentation and written skills

· Excellent organisational skills

· Data handling skills

· Competency in Microsoft Office

· Be able to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision

· Interest and awareness in issues relating to Muslim students

· Experience in working alongside/within a student Islamic Society

· Be willing to travel around the UK

· lt;span> Experience in marketing or fundraising or related-fields is advantageous

· For the marketing role, experience with design software is advantageous
