FOSIS Responds to 6 Point Plan to Tackle Terrorism

Thursday, 05 April 2007 14:34

The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) in the UK and Eire today cautiously welcomed some of the proposals put forward by Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly.

Faisal Hanjra, spokesman for FOSIS, said today, “While some of the measures that have been put forward today are useful it is unfortunate to note that the government has still not taken any significant measures to address the root causes of terrorism.

Issues surrounding foreign policy, civil liberties and the general conduct of the government during the ‘war on terror’ are issues which significantly impact on young British Muslims and it is important for the government to recognise that.”

FOSIS reiterates its call for an enquiry into the causes of 7/7.
