FOSIS Condemns the Ongoing Detention of Khalid AlMudallal

Tuesday, 02 October 2007 11:06
The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) in the UK and Eire today raised concerns about the situation of Palestinian students, studying in British universities, who have been prevented from leaving Palestine by the Israeli authorities to return to the UK.

Faisal Hanjra, spokesman for FOSIS, said today, “Many students studying in the UK went back to Palestine for their summer holidays to see their families. While their, due to the political situation in Gaza, they were not allowed to leave by the Israeli authorities to return to continue their studies. Khaled AlMudallal is one example. It is unacceptable for the Israeli authorities to impose such restrictions; these students are innocent of any crime and simply want to return to continue their studies. Both their places at university and thus their future is jeopardised by this policy. ”

FOSIS calls upon the British Government to lobby on behalf of these students and urges the Israeli authorities to lift these unjust sanctions.
