FOSIS Welcomes Month of Ramadan

Thursday, 13 September 2007 11:08
The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) in the UK and Eire welcomes the start of the month of Ramadan, a period when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and increase in their acts of worship to their creator.

Faisal Hanjra, spokesman for FOSIS, said today, “The month of Ramadan is an important time for Muslims as they draw closer to their creator. We extend a warm message of congratulations to Muslims all around the world on this blessed occasion.

“FOSIS this year will be continuing in a community initiative called the One Day National Fast. A day when non-Muslims and Muslims come together and fast on the same day, and in the process raise money for various charities. We pray that our Creator accepts our acts of worship this Ramadan.

He further added, “We sincerely wish the best for Islamic Societies with their preparations for fresher’s weeks. We advise all Muslim Students to join their campus Islamic Societies and actively participate with their Ramadan activities to maximise the benefit from this holy month.”
