Head of Services Blog - July 2009

Assalamu alaikum,

Since being elected as head of services at the last FAC, thing have slowly taken shape under the new services committee . I have been looking forward to the challenge of this work, as I was previously involved in a youth organisation and many other grassroot initiatives. This role would enable me to continue with this work and bring my experience to the student arena.

My first priority was to consolidate a team. My focus was to keep the team small and  effective. Alhamdullilah, I feel that there is a good balance of experience and creativeness in the new services committee which will bring excellent, radical and innovative events to Isoc's. As well as forming the core team, discussions are under way for projects and plans for the year ahead. Currently we are looking at having two major speaker tours in each semester as well as regional tours taking place. Under the Islam awareness remit ideas such as a national hijab day were discussed following on from the terrible death of Marwa Al-Sherbini.

We are still making plans and I am in the process of putting together proposals for the new year. But I would really like to hear from Isoc's to help the services committee deliver the best resources to campuses. Feel free to get in touch with us, and we hope to bring a Fosis service to an Isoc near you! As its the beginning of the new committee please remember us in your duas and forgive us for our shortcomings. As mentioned any ideas are welcome so feel free to drop me an email :)
