“Acquire knowledge because doing so is good. Seeking it is worship. Reviewing it is glorifying Allah. Researching it is jihad. Teaching it to the ignorant is charity” Mu’adh ibn Jabal

Aim of the committee:
1). To raise awareness of the importance & need of sacred knowledge
2). To assist in acquiring and increasing in sacred knowledge

Allah has commanded us in the Quran to worship and obey him, obedience is not possible without knowledge. If we don’t know what our duties and obligations are and what is halaal (permissible) and haram (impermissible), then we won’t know if we’re fulfilling them, we may end up committing sin. This is why it is essential to learn basic obligatory knowledge.

How much is one obliged to learn? The prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “Seeking knowledge is compulsory upon every Muslim male and female”

Obligatory knowledge is very simple and can be learnt easily. It is just a matter of taking some time out to learn it. Once you do so, you will find that the rewards are vast.

This basic level of knowledge is actually very straightforward and easy to learn. It can be divided into four categories and these are explained below:
1. Aqida - The science of beliefs 2. Fiqh - Jurisprudence/correct worship
3. Ihsaan - The path to salvation 4. Tajwid - Learning to recite the Qur’an in it’s proper manner
