External- NUS Black Students Research Project

Calling all Black Students!

The Black Students’ Campaign represents all students of African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean descent in colleges and universities.

The Campaign has launched a research project to explore the experiences of Black students. Various surveys and research bodies, such the National Student Survey, Equality Challenge Unit and Future Track, continue to highlight that Black students face inequality within and entry into HE and are less likely to be satisfied with their student experience.

The research project aims to build upon the existing literature and will focus on various aspects of academic experience such as the admissions procedure, attainment, campus life and support networks. This is an exciting project and the information obtained will allow us to campaign for changes to improve Black students’ experiences of education now and in the future.

Your Views Are Important! - How To Get Involved

Use your networks, university web pages and students unions to inform as many Black Students, including International Students, about the project.
Students can take part by completing an online survey which can be accessed at the NUS Black Students’ Campaign Web page:

www.nus.org.uk/Campaigns/Black-Students

All students who provide their email address will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 High St Vouchers! All survey responses are anonymous.

If you have any questions about the survey please contact Mandeep Rupra-Daine, Research & Development Officer (Black Students), at mandeep.rupra@nus.org.uk. Survey closes June 30th 2009.
