Research into the impact of the UK's anti terror laws and strategy on young Muslims

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) have commissioned a piece of  research into the impact the UK’s anti terror laws have had on young Muslims and calls for people with any such experience(s) to come forward.

The research, commissioned by FOSIS, the only union of Muslim students in colleges and universities in the UK, will investigate the impact the UK's anti terror laws and strategy has had on Muslims in  the UK. This involves speaking to those who have experienced stop-and-accounts, stop-and-searches, being detained at a UK airport or train station or wrongly arrested under the UK's terror laws or approached by MI5 agents or Special Branch operatives trying to solicit information from them and even recruit them to spy on Muslims.

The report will be disseminated amongst civil rights groups, youth groups, universities & colleges and the relevant government departments. This is a unique study in that no-one before has specifically looked into the longer term psychological, aspirational and integrational impact such encounters have had on those on the receiving end of these laws..

Needless to say, your participation will remain completely confidential and there is no way of connecting your answers back to you.

Please respond by Sunday 13th of December so that we are able to analyse the responses and publish the findings in the new year.

Feel free to pass this information on to anyone you know of who may have had such experiences.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Zin Derfoufi, the project researcher, at: civil.liberties@fosis.org.uk .

NOTE: You do not have to be a student to participate.
