Power to the People -The Grassroots Initiative

“Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is just and forbidding what is wrong; They are the ones to attain felicity” (Aal’imran 3:104)

“For students high on purpose and eager for change, university Islamic Societies continue to be active, engaging and transformational bodies.” Faisal Hanjra, FOSIS President

Why “Grassroots”?

  • Is it useful for Muslim students to be empowered towards getting involved in the civic and political participation on campus as citizens?

  • Is there enough truth and justice out and about on campus?

  • Do you think the da’wah work of your Islamic Society can have a greater reach to non-Muslim and Muslim students on campus?

  • Would you prefer better Muslim student service provision – for example a prayer room, better equipped and with suitable attention provided by your university authorities?  Are you maximising the unhidden sources of funding available on campus?

If you agree to some of these questions, than you are thinking positively about how to strengthen your Islamic Society and the role Muslim students have to play on campus. The FOSIS Student Affairs Committee with our “Grassroots Initiative” is here to enable you to do just that.
